Shopping Bag

In your wardrobe, you really must have an outfit for every possible situation combined with every possible weather condition. For instance, you need at least one outfit to wear on a Saturday afternoon. You need a Saturday afternoon outfit for when it's hot and sunny, hot and rainy, cold and rainy, cold and sunny, snowing. You need a dinner date outfit (yes, us married girls go on dates too). You need one for when it's hot and sunny, hot and rainy, cold and rainy, cold and sunny, snowing. You get the idea ...

Anyhow, occasionally I participate in volunteer events sponsored by my company. Last year I wore Hudson Jeans bermuda shorts and a green tee shirt but the shorts were not really appropriate for playing wiffle ball. Gym shorts or crops also won't cut it since this is a company sponsored event. So ... I needed an outfit for active Saturdays when it is hot out ...

This is what I pieced together:

Lulu Lemon Lively Tee in Grapeseed

Lulu Lemon Do It All 2 Shorts (a great combination of a bermuda short in an activity inclined fabric)
Lulu Lemon Socks. I have a few pairs of these and really can't rave about them enough. They don't slide down. I even ran 5 miles in them and NO blisters on the bottoms of my feet!

Nike Women's Eclipse 2 Sneakers. More casual than my running Asics and perfect for volunteer events and other busy daytime weekend activities!

Kate Spade

This post is a little late. Last week Kate Spade was having an online sample sale with items up to 100% off! (OK, maybe not 100% off but pretty darn close!).

Of course ... a sale inspires a wishlist.

This little mini clutch I actually purchased! I wanted the gunmetal color pictured below but it was already sold out so I got it in black with light gold metal details. I think the regular price was $195 and I paid just ... $49! AMAZE!

Shopping Bag

On June 26, I will be crossing an item off my bucket list: completing a half marathon. Leading up to the half marathon, I've been participating in shorter, 5K races. I have some workout gear that I like but obviously need more. You can never have enough of anything, right? And afterall, I am a "collector" of just about every single thing ...

So this is what I got - Under Armour Tech Sleeveless v-neck tops. I have two of these in the long sleeve version and they are amazing. They wash and dry well and don't lose their wicking abilities. I bought heather gray and yellow.
Under Armour compression 4 inch shorts. I actually haven't tried Under Armour bottoms before but these were recommended by my friend Mrs. O as a pair that do not have the annoying qualities of chafing, riding up or slapping against the back of your legs. Unsure about what size, I ordered both a small and a medium.

New kicks! YAYAYAY! I've done TONS of research on pronation and different running styles. I am a neutral runner, if not under pronating slightly. I bought these from Road Runner Sports and can't wait to test them out!

Coming soon - more Lulu Lemon SOCKS!

Shoe Lust

I suppose by now the word is out that I love (love, love, LOVE!) shoes! My husband and I heard about Tom's on one of those news programs a few years back and loved the philanthropy of it all. A few weeks ago when I was out in California, I noticed that they are actually a huge trend there. Now, I'm not a super trendy person myself, but philanthrophy combined with reasonable cuteness = why not? They ARE shoes, after all.

Here are my top picks from the Tom's website. I think most range between $44-$69

Shopping Bag

Oh boy am I in trouble today! All my online purchases from last week will be delivered to our front porch at some point during the day and what time will I be home to intercept? Oh 9 PM! Now my secret will be out to Mr. K about what I do on my "coffee breaks" at work.

Well - what did I do?

I treated myself to a new pair of Tory Burch Thora flip flops. Because the gold and pewter ones I have aren't enough. Oh no, I needed tumbled black leather ones too.

A box from DSW is on the way also. These were super cheap but in my husband's mind, that's no reason to just buy something. Oh well. It's too late now! These cute little wedges from Jones NY will be arriving shortly.

Did you think that was IT? Heavens no! Those are just the only photos I could find. I also bought a purple wrap dress from Banana Republic since there was a 40% off sale one day last week. I had to add a few more items to my shopping bag to get it over $50 so I could qualify for the free shipping. :) Two pairs of tights are on the way as well.

Success: Cupcake-Stuffed Strawberries from 1 Fine Cookie

I have learned over time it's important to have idols in life. For instance, I have wardrobe idols. They would be Emma Pillsbury or Charlotte York; both classic and ladylike. After reading a recent issue of In Style magazine, my home decor idol is Tory Burch. Did you SEE her UES penthouse pad? I could never pull it off but it was sheerly amazing. I also have a newfound domestic idol named Jasmin. I see Jasmin every now and then and usually at parties. She always prepares elaborate dishes that everyone raves (and obsesses) over. Several weeks back she launched her blog which I admit to stalking for inspiration! (http://www.1finecookie.com)At a superbowl party a few years back, Jasmin prepared cupcake stuffed strawberries which stuck around for approximately five minutes before being completely devoured. Luckily, the recipe has been shared on her blog!

This weekend I had an occasion to prepare such an elaborate dessert - my brother's and sister-in-law's birthdays!

Following the directions, I baked the cake and mixed in some frosting and coated my strawberries:

When they were pretty well chilled, I dipped in chocolate. Drooling yet?
Meanwhile, my loyal supervisor slept right near me.

Lastly, I drizzled some white chocolate on top. I had TONS of left over cake mixture since I only bought one carton of strawberries (doh!) so I used the remaining mixture and made little cake balls. I definitely need some decorating tips/classes but everything tasted absolutely amazing! My mom even commented that it was the best chocolate covered strawberry she'd ever had! Watch out, Godiva!
