Shopping Bag

Well it is January 31 and there is no sign of a ground hog this year! I am sure he is buried under about 4 feet of snow at this point but that hasn't stopped me from fantasizing about spring and even summer!

At the top of my lust list - this skirt from Lands End Canvas. It is just $59.50 and so adorable.

This little sweater dress below was my first ever purchase from Lands End Canvas. I got the size small and do find that their clothes run a size big. I styled the dress similarly, with a white button down under but added a belt to cinch in the extra fabric around the middle. Throw on some black tights and black high heel oxfords and I was ready for the office! This look below with leggings and flats is perfect for the weekend! This is currently on sale though not many sizes left. If you want it, hurry!

Mrs. K Day

This year on Mrs. K day we woke up to a record breaking snowfall. In my particular, elevated, place of residence we got nearly two feet of snow which fell over just a few hours during the middle of the night. When we went to bed at 11 PM, it was just flurrying. When we woke up at 7 AM ... winter wonderland!

Mr. K dug out a little trail from the garage to the front door for Piper to run around. We didn't have to worry about her running away because she was barricaded in by all the snow! The snow was higher than she is tall.
Here she is enjoying her little trail.
The photo below is truly amazing. You can barely make out a red tail light ... there is a CAR under that pile of snow!

And here are Mr. K and I posing for my birthday photo! There is an unbelievable amount of snow!

Lust: Emma Pillsbury's Wardrobe

Like many other ladies my age, I am O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with Glee! One character I admire in particular, Emma Pillsbury, has emerged as a style icon. I mean, if you google "Emma Pillsbury", dozens of blogs dedicated solely to this character will turn up. So I decided to dedicate this one post to Emma Pillsbury, whose style I'd translate as ladylike and current-day Jackie O.

So ... what types of items might we expect to see Emma Pillsbury don in upcoming Glee episodes?

PSA: OPI Gel Manicure

My bestie, a manicure aficionado, will most appreciate today's public service announcement. I haven't been regular about getting manicures since I moved out to the 'burbs and bought a house. With all the cleaning, laundry, and dog walking I do, it didn't make sense to spend an hour a week in the salon just so I'd have an excuse not to do all my chores. The day before Christmas Eve, I decided to try something new. Well, new to me anyhow. The salon by my house offers an OPI Gel Manicure which is advertised to last up to 2 weeks. Several colors are available, I'd estimate around 40 or so but either way, it's a ton more colors than are offered by the Shellac Manicure. So I tried it and can't rave about it enough! For $35, the manicure was done and DRY in under 45 minutes - no waiting around under the dryer, no risk of smudging after you leave the salon. They even had my go-to color, Bubble Bath. The OPI Gel Manicure didn't last a full 2 weeks but did make it about 10 days. It also didn't damage my nails at all which was a huge concern of mine. Last Sunday I went to get it done again (in Bubble Bath of course) and this is how it looked 5 days later on Thursday night. Well worth the money and I'd highly recommend!

Lust: Maxi Dresses

Wardrobe inspiration finally arrived to my inbox in the form of a Bloomingdale's email. The email selected certain garments and displayed how to wear them now and how to wear them later. Some of the styles made sense - silk scarves, trench coats, cardigans, wide leg pants. Others did not - white dresses, maxi dresses. While we are expecting several inches of snow here tomorrow, the thought of maxi dresses got me really excited for spring ... even though it is several months away at this point.

Here are my top 3 maxi dresses from Bloomingdales.

1. The DvF wrap maxi. I have no clue who would ever need this item or why, but I truly love how it looks.
2. The DvF patio maxi dress. The black is a little unexciting but the style of the dress is lovely.
3. Now here we go! A patio style maxi dress with a colorful pattern! Fun and exciting. This one is from Alice & Olivia.

Confused!

Something is happening to me that has never happened before. I must be going through a phase because never have I been so unenthused about clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry, outerwear, accessories, the arrival of resort wear ... etc! Maybe it's because it's January 5th and the new year's resolutions are still fresh, but I've found myself perusing not Neiman Marcus nor Saks, neither Zappos nor Endless, neither J.crew nor Piperlime. Rather I have been visiting, how shall I say, "active lifestyle"inspired websites. Today I have visited asics.com and ladyfootlocker.com. I purchased new running sneakers (much needed but unexciting). Yesterday's purchase were the running crops from LuluLemon. Either my workout wardrobe had grown dire ... or there is nothing left in this world for me to buy OTHER than gym paraphernalia. Oh dear!

Shopping Bag

Happy New Year! It is hard to believe 2010 is over and we're already FOUR days into 2011. I did make one new year's resolution for 2011 and it is to take better care of myself. I have defined "taking better care of myself" as moisturizing, flossing my teeth daily, getting regular manicurs and pedicures, eating less junk food and of course stepping up the exercise routine. The year was off to a strong start - I ran 2 miles on January 1 and another 2 on January 2! Sad but true, what gets me motivated to work out is new gear. My brother and sister-in-law gave me a LuluLemon gift card for Christmas so I applied it toward the Run: Inspire Crops (below). Half Marathon: Here I come!
